How to use our Design & Project Service

Our Design Approach

Years of experience has taught us that one size does not fit all.

Our approach is designed to be flexible enough to fit with your design process, for example, we can work from your own/client's design or create a new design for you from your requirements brief. You may have a design example you have seen or one you have created before that you would like to modify to fit a new design brief.

Whatever your approach; the more information we have from the start, the better equipped we will be to deliver the solution that works best.

The Brief - what we need to know

The amount and type of information we require depends on the complexity and application of the design solution, so it needs to be appropriate to the project.

We will prepare a design and quotation based on your design specification, we can use the information you give is to inform our design team. To help us please consider the following as part of your project specification:

Budget:
• Do you have a fixed budget for your project?
• Do you need advice on different cost options?

Application and Usage:
• What job does your project design need to do? ...brand awareness, sell merchandise, attract customers, inform or instruct.
• How will it be used? Will the display be permanent or temporary? Will you need to reconfigure it for reuse for different venues or different applications?
• Will you be displaying products? Consider any load-bearing or shelving requirements you may have.
• What activity will be taking place on or around the display; lead taking, selling product/service, presentation, demonstration, leafleting, meetings? We can recommend design solutions such as storage, shelving, dispensing literature, counters, and furniture.
• Will you need to power lighting, LDC monitors, computers, other electrical appliances, machinery? Consider your power source and any cabling required – we can take this into consideration when designing.

Frequency of usage:
• Does the display need to be portable? If it is required for multiple-use, we need to ensure it is designed in a way that is and suitable for your transportation method.

Location and environment:
• Think about where the display or unit is going to be sited. What type of environment will it be in? Will it be in a busy high-traffic location; are there any restrictions on size, will there be access to a power source? This information will help us select the right construction components and advise on details such as structural stability and lighting.
• If you have an allocated stand space or booth; what are the dimensions of the space, how many open sides does the space have, are there any height restrictions?

Transportation:
• How are you going to transport your display?
You need to consider frequency of use, flexibility, logistics, venue location and cost. Will you or your customer use a professional carrier or will the display need to fit into the back of a company van or even a car?
• We can design a display to break down to different component sizes and advise on carry case options. It is worth noting that the more broken down the components, longer the job will take to construct.

Build/Assembly:
• Who will build the display?
We offer a full install and breakdown service or are you looking to build and install yourself?
• Does it need to be easy enough to be built without the need for specialist skills?

Storage requirements:
• At the venue: personal storage; hospitality, promotional material, sale or demo products.
• When not in use: if the display is not permanent, will it need to be stored between use? Could it be used for another purpose?

Graphics:
Consider what type graphics are going to work best for your display. Our design team can advise on graphic options. Some display components carry a choice of rigid, rollable vinyl, or foldable fabric graphics so you can choose which is most suitable for your purpose. Please note: different design graphics options can affect the design & cost so we most know which type of graphics are required before starting on your design.

Lead-times:
Let us know when you require your design & quotation and the delivery date for the completed project so we can plan it in to our schedule. Sometimes your lead-time may dictate the design or products chosen. If you know your enquiry is urgent, please raise this with the designer from the start, so we make sure we can meet your deadline.
